During our day trip to Uiwang, we decided to try one of the area's most exciting attractions—the zipline over Wangsong Lake.

What Is the Uiwang Zipline?
Located beside Wangsong Lake, the Uiwang Zipline lets you soar above the park while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, wetlands, and rail bike below.
Unlike huge mountain ziplines that focus on speed alone, this experience is all about combining excitement with scenery. It's high enough to get your adrenaline pumping just a little while still giving you time to take in the incredible views.
One of the best things about visiting is that it's only a short walk from the Uiwang Rail Bike, making it easy to combine both activities into a full-day itinerary.

Our Experience
After enjoying the rail bike, lunch and a museum, we made our way over to the zipline, not quite knowing what to expect.
Watching people launch across the lake definitely made it look higher than it felt from the ground, and as we climbed the stairs to the platform, the excitement (and maybe a few nerves!) started to kick in.
The staff helped everyone into their harnesses, explained the safety procedures, and checked all the equipment before anyone was allowed to launch.
Once clipped in, there wasn't much time to overthink it...
One step forward...
...and suddenly we were flying across Wangsong Lake.
The views were incredible.
Instead of looking straight down the whole time, we found ourselves looking out across the mountains, watching the rail bikes below and appreciating just how peaceful the area looked from above.
It was not overly complicated, there was only one form to sign and the staff did have to weigh you at the front reception but that was about it. There was no wait time when we were there, the staff just took us straight up and got us into the harnesses and sent us out. Up to three people can ride the zipline at the same time, but they stagger the departures so that you don't arrive at the same time.

How High Is It?
Official height: 41m
Although it feels high when you're standing on the launch platform, once you're moving, the experience is much smoother than many people expect.
The height actually becomes one of the best parts because it gives you incredible views over the entire lake.
How Fast Do You Go?
Maximum speed: 30-40kms
It feels fast enough to be exciting without becoming overwhelming.
Even if you've never been on a zipline before, it's a great introduction because you have time to enjoy the scenery rather than simply racing to the finish.
How Long Is the Zipline?
Length: 350m
The ride itself is relatively short, but that's normal for most recreational ziplines.
Fortunately, the experience isn't just about the ride itself.
Waiting on the platform, taking in the views, and watching friends launch all add to the fun.
Is It Safe?
Safety was one of the things that impressed us most.
Before anyone was allowed to ride, staff carefully checked:
✔ Harness
✔ Helmet
✔ Safety clips
✔ Connection points
✔ Launch position
The staff were friendly but professional, and we never felt rushed.
Even first-time riders should feel reassured by the safety procedures.
Restrictions
Maximum weight: 100kg
Minimum weight: 30kg
Maximum height: 210cm
Minimum height: 130cm
Always double-check before visiting, especially if you're travelling with children. While they do have a 'youth' ticket, they do not mention a specific age cut off. If a child is within the height and weight restrictions but is not yet a teenager, they may be refused to ride.

Is It Scary?
Probably the biggest question people ask.
Our answer?
Not really.
Yes, standing on the platform can make your heart race a little.
But once you launch, the nerves disappear surprisingly quickly.
Instead of feeling terrifying, we found it exciting and surprisingly peaceful.
If you're comfortable with observation decks or cable cars, you'll probably enjoy this.
What Should You Wear?
We'd recommend:
✔ Comfortable trainers
✔ Clothes you can move easily in
✔ Hair tied back if it's long
Avoid:
✖ Skirts or dresses
✖ Loose hats
✖ Flip-flops
✖ Long scarves
✖ Anything that could catch on the harness
Summer visitors should also bring water and sunscreen.
Best Time to Visit
🌸 Spring
Comfortable temperatures and fresh greenery.
☀ Summer
Beautiful lake views but can be hot. Morning or late afternoon is best.

🍂 Autumn
Probably our favourite. The autumn colours around the lake make the views even more impressive.

❄ Winter
A unique experience with crisp air and fewer visitors.
Photo Opportunities
Unfortunately you can not use handheld camera's on the platform or while riding the zipline. Only Gopro's or camera's that can be attached to the body someway are allowed. From the ground near the landing area you can get great photo's of who ever is riding the zipline after you though.
What We Loved
✅ Incredible views
✅ Easy to combine with the rail bike
✅ Friendly staff
✅ Great introduction to ziplining
✅ One of the most memorable parts of our Uiwang trip
Things to Keep in Mind
To keep this review balanced, here are a few things worth considering.
- The ride itself is over fairly quickly.
- Weather conditions can affect operations.
- If you're visiting during busy weekends, you may have to wait longer.
- It's an outdoor attraction, so rain and strong winds may cause temporary closures.
- You have to carry your bags with you on the zipline, placed inside another bag that's strapped around your body. We had one very heavy bag so they allowed us to leave it at the ticket office and come back for it after.
Who Should Try It?
Perfect For
✔ Couples
✔ Families with older children
✔ Friends
✔ Solo travellers
✔ Anyone wanting a little adventure
Maybe Skip It If...
You have an extreme fear of heights or are looking for a much longer, more extreme zipline experience.
Our Tips
- Visit earlier in the day if you want shorter queues.
- Wear trainers for better grip on the stairs and platform.
- Ask someone in your group to film your launch.
- Pair it with the rail bike and a lakeside café to make the most of your trip.
- If you're bringing a camera, make sure it's one that can be securely attached.
Is the Uiwang Zipline Worth It?
Definitely.
We expected it to be a fun add-on to the rail bike, but it ended up being one of the highlights of our entire day in Uiwang.
The combination of beautiful scenery, friendly staff, and just enough adrenaline makes it an experience we'd happily recommend to anyone looking for something a little different near Seoul.
If you're already visiting Wangsong Lake, we'd strongly suggest making time for both attractions—they complement each other perfectly.
